Most poignant photo taken by C.P. Dettloff in Vancouver, Canada on October 1, 1940, when a young 5 year old boy escaped his mother’s grasp and raced to his father, “creating what would become the most famous Canadian photograph of the Second World War and one of the most recognized of all war photos”. This stamp was issued in 2014 to commemorate the 75th anniversary of this photo

Oldest stamp in my collection, #4, 1852
Hard to
believe that this tiny piece of printed paper has lasted 169 years so far. How
many people over generations kept this beautiful old stamp in such a condition.
Intriguing to find the list of owners over the years. Enjoy.

Hidden Dates on Canadian Stamps
Since 1935 Canadian stamps have a hidden date (year of issue) printed on the stamp which is sometimes hard to find. Here are some examples. By using a 20X magnifier they become quite visible. If you have Canadian stamps in your collection try to identify the the hidden date for fun. Please note that there are a few exceptions where they were not printed for some reason.
